Die Anfrage der US-Kartellbehörde nach weiteren Informationen zum DoubleClick-Deal ist noch keine drei Tage alt, da kündigt Google eine weitere Akquisition an.

Panoramio ist ein Online-Bilderdienst. User können ihre Bilder hochladen, anderen vorstellen und in Google Earth integrieren. Die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Google und Panoramio besteht bereits einige Zeit, nun möchte Google diese mit der Übernahme “intensivieren”. Angaben zum Kaufpreis für Panoramio wurden nicht gemacht.

Auch zu dieser Übernahme hat Google einen FAQ veröffentlicht, unter anderem mit folgenden Fragen.

The acquisition of Panoramio will incorporate that website, its underlying technology, its content, developers, and user community into the Google Geo product mix. Panoramio will add interesting, useful content to Google products and will bolster Google’s engineering and technical resources.

What if I don’t want to pass my photos and user information to Google?

Panoramio promised in its Terms of Use that users would be given a chance to opt-out of the transfer of their personal information if Panoramio were acquired. If you take no action, the rights to your data will transfer, unmodified, from Panoramio to Google upon close of the acquisition. Choosing to opt out will terminate your user agreement with Panoramio, trigger the removal of your photos from the Panoramio database, and prevent the transfer of data rights to Google.

Wer sich und seine Daten von Google fern halten möchte, muss also seinen Account bei Panoramio kündigen und sich einen neuen Dienst suchen – aber dann wohl ohne Google Earth.

Google’s multimedialer Web-Feldzug hält also an. Audio, Video, Foto – abgerundet mit Sicherheitssoftware und Werbevermarktung inklusive Nutzerdaten.
